About the role
The Bar Back plays a crucial role in ensuring the bar is fully stocked, clean, and operational throughout every shift. This role requires speed, organization, and a genuine commitment to delivering the best-in-class service.
Responsibilities
- Stock and maintain the bar stations, refrigerators, cupboards, and storage areas with designated par levels.
- Maintain bar inventory throughout the shift and restock proactively before levels get low.
- Move bar supplies from storage to the work area efficiently and safely, by hand or using hand trucks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization across all bar areas and common spaces throughout the shift.
- Support the bar team by assisting bartenders in caring for guests in whatever way is needed.
- Observe all responsible alcohol service guidelines to protect guests and the community.
- Greet guests in a friendly and approachable manner, contributing to the overall guest experience.
- Communicate clearly with bartenders and management to flag supply shortages, cleanliness issues, or anything that could slow the bar down.
- Report any equipment issues or safety concerns to management promptly.
- Drive results by holding themselves to high standards for stock levels, cleanliness, and bar readiness on every shift.
Requirements
- Experience in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment preferred.
- Ability to obtain required alcohol service licenses and certifications for your location.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older as required by state or local law.
Qualifications
- Ability to remain on your feet and in motion for extended periods throughout the shift, including standing, walking, and moving quickly between the bar, storage areas, and service stations.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds independently and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to navigate stairs, ramps, and multi-level storage and service areas when transporting bar supplies and equipment.
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments on a frequent basis, including bar service areas, walk-in coolers, and refrigerated storage.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions including carrying, stacking, lifting, and restocking glassware, bottles, and bar supplies throughout the shift.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a high-energy bar environment that may include moderate to high levels of background noise.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume bar environment while maintaining focus, organization, and stock levels under pressure.

Pay
Renton's hourly rate for this position is $21.57 + tips.
Schedule
This role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with availability to work during peak periods, special events, and high-volume seasons.
