Toolroom Machinist

About the role

Humphrey Products Company, a Kalamazoo-based manufacturer of fluid control valves and precision control components used in industries ranging from medical devices and laboratory instrumentation to material handling and transportation, has a Toolmaker opportunity in the Tool Room Department.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and create parts as defined from raw material.
• Define the process steps required to complete products with minimal input from others.
• Set up and operate typical toolroom equipment such as manual lathes, mills and grinders.
• Select appropriate cutting tools and associated speeds and feeds based on materials.
• Determine and apply appropriate measuring equipment and gauges to verify work done.
• Work self‑motivated with solid decision‑making and problem‑solving skills to complete projects.
• Utilize CNC lathe and mill experience, and CNC programming (a major plus).
• Work in a team‑oriented environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least five years’ experience in a toolroom environment.

Schedule

Initial training schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm., transitioning to a regular schedule of Tuesday–Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.
