Toolroom Machinist
About the role
Humphrey Products Company, a Kalamazoo-based manufacturer of fluid control valves and precision control components, seeks a Toolroom Machinist to join their Tool room Department. The initial training schedule will be Monday–Thursday, 6:00 am. to 4:00 pm., transitioning to a regular schedule of Tuesday–Friday, 6:00 am. to 4:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Reading blueprints and creating parts as defined from raw material.
- Define the process steps required to complete products with minimal input from others.
- Setup and operate typical toolroom equipment such as manual lathes, mills and grinders.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and associated speeds and feeds based on materials, etc.
- Determine and apply appropriate measuring equipment and gauges to verify work done.
- Self motivated with solid decision making and problem solving skills to complete projects.
- CNC lathe and mill experience, and CNC programming is a major plus.
Requirements
- At least five years’ experience in a toolroom environment.
- Should include the following capabilities:
- Reading blueprints and creating parts as defined from raw material.
- Define the process steps required to complete products with minimal input from others.
- Setup and operate typical toolroom equipment such as manual lathes, mills and grinders.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and associated speeds and feeds based on materials, etc.
- Determine and apply appropriate measuring equipment and gauges to verify work done.
- Self motivated with solid decision making and problem solving skills to complete projects.
- CNC lathe and mill experience, and CNC programming is a major plus.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED.
Skills
- Strong reading and comprehension skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in using toolroom equipment such as manual lathes, mills and grinders.
- Experience with selecting appropriate cutting tools and associated speeds and feeds.
- Knowledge of determining and applying appropriate measuring equipment and gauges.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- CNC lathe and mill experience, and CNC programming skills are a major plus.
