About the role
We are seeking a Toolmaker to plan and execute complex manufacturing jobs (such as tools assemblies, etc.). This position may also participate in activities in support of quotations for customers.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute manufacturing jobs to meet customer requirements.
- Translate customer engineering documents (drawings, specifications, etc.) into logical processes to complete tasks.
- Identify material requirements and outside service provider requirements and communicate same to appropriate internal personnel.
- Inspect parts, tools and paperwork, to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Establish a schedule of processes to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Cookordinate with other departments (engineering, production planning, quality, etc.) as necessary to meet customer requirements.
- Read, interpret and produce engineering drawings (both by CAD and by hand), specifications, limits, fits, and computer-generated information in order to determine what has to be produced and to what specification.
- Select and use a range of measurements and testing equipment to check components are to required quality and accuracy.
- Understand the structure, properties and characteristics of common materials used for the manufacture and repair of tooling, mold, dies, jigs and fixtures.
- Understand and demonstrate the safe operation, correct selection and skilled usage of a range of hand tools used for toolmaking and die maintenance, including grinders, drills, and stones.
- Understand the safe operation and theory of the range of complex and often state-of-the-art workshop machinery used such as (CNC lathes, milling, grinding, drilling and welding equipment) and how to set up and operate the machinery and equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Apply and understand the methods and techniques used to assemble and disassemble tools, jigs and fixtures.
- Understand the basic principles of how the relevant tools, jigs and fixtures being manufactured/maintained function, the operating sequences, the purpose of individual components/systems and how they interact.
- Understand the theory and application of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical and electronic systems as applied to various molding, injection, pressing and similar associated machinery.
- Comply with statutory, quality, organizational and health and safety regulations while carrying out manufacturing techniques.
- Test to confirm correct operation and of the effectiveness of repairs and maintenance activities carried out.
- Obtain, check and use the appropriate documentation (such as job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation and hand over documentation).
- Properly use the MRP system to record job information.

Qualifications
- A High School Diploma.
- Toolmaker Apprenticeship or 5 years of tool making experience.

- Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
