Tooling Supervisor

Responsibilities
- Schedule, monitor, and perform tool cleaning and inspection activities and preventative maintenance required work for all extrusion tooling and associated equipment.
- Manage work assignments for all team members and provide guidance on standard work and best practices to accomplish assigned workload.
- Ensure proper assembly of tooling components and pre-assemblies (to support SMED).
- Troubleshoot, repair, and improve tooling to meet production needs and customer expectations of cost, quality, and delivery of new and existing products.
- Identify, procure, and maintain critical spare parts inventory to ensure no disruptions to Production are experienced.
- Work closely with operations and engineering to develop/improve processes that better help meet production tooling needs.
- Support continuous improvement, scrap reduction, new product development and other engineering-led activities. Participate in kaizen events as requested.
- Support flawless tooling delivery activities to ensure Production is not delayed in meeting their production schedules.
- Train tooling technicians to improve their skill level in performance of their assigned job responsibilities.
- Supervise assigned team members for attendance and teamwork to ensure adequate coverage is provided.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience. Candidates without a degree must demonstrate 5 years of progressive experience in tooling, machining, or manufacturing environments, including hands-on technical competency.
- Experience leading teams.
- Experience interpreting sketches, blueprints and shop drawings for others.
- Experience training other team members
- Experience making decisions and leading others in a fast-paced environment with some ambiguity.
- Experience communicating with others with a focus on continuous improvement combined with “can do” attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience Supervising in a Tool Room or Maintenance Environment
- 4 year Bachelors Degree in a STEM field
- Medical device manufacturing experience.

- Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods
- Working in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided

- Occasional lifting or movement of materials
- Adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards
- The employee will occasionally be subject to, working in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outdoor weather conditions, but rarely (if ever) be exposed to extreme cold or heat (non-weather) or wet/humid (non weather) conditions, travel on company business. The noise level is considered loud (normal shop conditions).
The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses in the designated areas, hairnet/beard net and jumpsuit when on the production floor, gloves when handling hot objects or solvents, earplugs when required and steel-toed shoes (preferred)
