Tooling Manager, Data Center Site Deployment

About the role

The Tooling Manager for Data Center Site Deployment at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is responsible for managing tooling, equipment, inventory, and readiness processes that support OCI data center deployment activities. This role ensures that deployment teams have the necessary tools, kits, materials, records, and controls to execute safely and consistently across various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tooling readiness for assigned site deployment programs, including tool kits, specialty equipment, consumables, calibration needs, and staging requirements.
  • Maintain accurate tooling inventories, assignment records, condition checks, readiness trackers, and deployment support documentation.
  • Cook up with deployment managers, logistics teams, site operations, vendors, and procurement to ensure tools are available when needed.
  • Develop standard tooling lists, site deployment kits, replenishment triggers, storage expectations, and control processes.
  • Support tool issue resolution when missing, damaged, uncalibrated, delayed, or improperly staged equipment could impact deployment schedules.
  • Partner with Asset Management and Logistics to align tooling records, ownership, barcoding, transfer, storage, and lifecycle processes.
  • Track tool movement across sites, vendors, staging areas, and deployment teams to improve accountability and reduce loss.
  • Prepare status updates, issue logs, action registers, and readiness summaries for deployment leadership.
  • Ensure tooling processes support safety, security, access control, audit readiness, and site-specific operating requirements.
  • Contribute to deployment playbooks, lessons learned, templates, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in tooling, logistics, asset management, warehouse operations, deployment support, data center operations, construction support, or technical program coordination.

Experience supporting technical field teams with tools, equipment, inventory, staging, or deployment readiness.

Strong organizational skills and experience maintaining trackers, asset records, issue logs, and readiness reports.

Working knowledge of data center deployment, construction, critical facilities, telecom, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.

Ability to coordinate across vendors, procurement, logistics, site teams, deployment managers, and operational stakeholders.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in operations, logistics, supply chain, construction management, or a technical field.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong execution discipline with attention to inventory accuracy, readiness, and follow-through.
  • Ability to create simple, repeatable processes that improve field productivity and accountability.
  • Good judgment in balancing deployment urgency, safety, tool condition, and control requirements.
  • Clear communication with field teams, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
  • Comfort working in fast-moving environments with shifting site priorities and deployment schedules.
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on eliminating delays, rework, and process variation.

Preferred Skills / Certifications

  • Experience with CMMS, inventory systems, asset tracking tools, barcode/RFID processes, Smartsheet, ServiceNow, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with data center rack deployment, site deployment, logistics, construction closeout, or operational readiness.
  • Leverage in Lean, Six Sigma, supply chain, logistics, OSHA, or project management certification.
  • Experience coordinating calibrated tools, specialty equipment, critical spares, or deployment kits.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale data centers, telecom, utilities, critical manufacturing, or other technical field operations.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

This role operates across office, staging, warehouse, construction, deployment, and active data center environments. Site work may involve walking large facilities, standing for extended periods, using stairs, lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds, and following all safety, PPE, security, and access-control requirements.

Qualifications

Hiring Range in USD: $102,300 - $209,500 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
