About the role
The role involves designing, developing, building, and implementing foundry tooling. Collaboration with the design engineer and the tooling shop is essential, along with resolving issues from quality and leadership, overseeing prototype building, testing, and analysis, assisting suppliers, and participating in proposal preparation.
Responsibilities
- Experience with cast iron foundry tooling designing
- Researching new materials and competitive products
- Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes
- Assisting supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance
- Overseeing the efforts of drafting and testing specialists
- Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents
- Participating in buy-build analysis for product components
- Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports
Requirements
- Education: Degree required in accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum
- Skills: Analytical Thinking, Managing Multiple Priorities, Technical Excellence, Computer-Aided Design & Engineering, Product Design - MFG, Product Design and Development, Experience in Magmasoft or Solidcast (plus), Knowledge of no bake process and coldbox, Horizontal and vertical molding process experience, Foundry defect resolution, Foundry process knowledge, Previous experience in Creo
Qualifications
- Experience in foundry tooling design and manufacturing
- Knowledge of casting processes and materials
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
