Tooling Design Engineer

About the role

The Tooling Design Engineer will develop detailed design packages, provide engineering procurement and field technical support, and troubleshoot and assess plant systems. They will prepare conceptual engineering deliverables like models and drawings, work collaboratively on integrated project teams, and perform walk-downs in plant facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design packages and provide engineering procurement and field technical support
• Provide expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems
• Prepare conceptual engineering deliverables such as models & drawings
• Collaborate as a team member or technical lead for multi-discipline tasks
• Generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel
• Create design concepts using PTC CREO software and topology optimization software
• Create design analysis calculations to ensure conformity to ASME and other national standards

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science from an EAC ABET accredited program
• OR MS in Engineering/Physical Science
• OR PhD in Engineering/Physical Science
• Minimum GPA: 3.0/4.0 for Bachelor degree, 3.3 for Master degree, 3.5 for PhD
• DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment
• Knowledgeable in respective technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
• Experience with CREO CAD Software
• Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders
• Ability to follow procedures and work within a rigorous work process
• Experience with engineering calculations/analysis associated with machine design
• A Professional Engineering License (PE)
