Tooling and Die Design Engineer

Role Overview Provide technical leadership in plastic bumper and instrument panel tooling, overseeing mold design, process development, and tooling maturation to ensure high-quality, reliable production. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot mold issues, translate customer requirements into manufacturing specifications, and perform simulations to optimize tooling performance. Design injection molds and jigs using NX CAD, and guide validation trials to establish robust process windows. Mentor team members and continuously seek process improvements. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Plastics, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field; or relevant experience with additional years of work experience.2-8 years of relevant experience.Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical/manufacturing knowledge. Key Responsibilities Lead mold and tooling design, review external supplier designs, and define technical specifications.Manage tooling trials and validate performance for production readiness.Identify root causes of mold issues and implement corrective actions.Translate customer needs into mold designs considering quality and manufacturability.Conduct mold flow and structural simulations to prevent failures.Drive process improvements and provide feedback on new model designs.Mentor co-ops and team members to foster skill development. Work Environment & Travel Balanced office and manufacturing environment, with PPE requirements, standing, lifting, and occasional machine work.Up to 20% travel, including international trips.
