Tool Technician 2 - Apprenticeship

About the Role

This hourly position is FLSA non-exempt, with a pay range of $17.50 - $22.96. You will work in a welcoming environment and rotate through different areas of tooling to gain knowledge and experience in all fundamental aspects of toolmaking through hands-on instruction and online courses, supported by an assigned mentor.

Responsibilities

• Work with tools in cleaning, polishing, repairs, disassembly, and/or making changes.
• Visually inspect tools using appropriate equipment following a checklist.
• Attend in-person classes to complete the required educational curriculum for the state-sponsored apprenticeship program.
• Clean, polish, and inspect components of tools.
• Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, magnifying lenses, and calipers.
• Use a CAD viewer to understand the work to be performed on a part.
• Assist toolmakers with assembling tools.
• Clean and polish using various stones; may use an ultrasonic handheld polishing unit.
• Perform visual inspections and measurements using tools like micrometers, calipers, metric scales, and magnifying lenses.
• Assist with securing inserts using wrenches and other hand tools.
• Complete process flow time sheets.
• Assist toolmakers in assembling tools as needed.
• Refer inspection or part problems to Tool & Die Makers and/or Supervisor.
• Perform routine cleaning responsibilities, which may include sweeping, wiping up oil, cleaning dies and molds, and emptying trash and scrap receptacles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; vocational/trade certification preferred.
• 1-3 years of molding experience, preferably with tool maintenance, repair, cleaning, or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be quality-oriented and possess manual dexterity.
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Pay

$17.50 - $22.96 per hour (FLSA: Non-Exempt).

Schedule

Full-time, on-site position requiring presence at your assigned worksite on scheduled workdays.
