About the role
Responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining essential tools and fixtures to ensure efficient operation of production machinery and adherence to high-precision gear specifications.
Responsibilities
- Designing, building, and repairing tools, jigs, and fixtures for gear cutting machines (hobbing, shaping, grinding).
- Setting up and operating conventional and CNC machinery, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders.
- Using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and bore gauges to meet tight tolerances.
- Troubleshooting tool-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD models for machining planning.
- Performing preventative and predictive maintenance on tools.
- Collaborating with engineering and production teams to improve tools and processes.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in a machine shop or tool room environment.
- Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code) and manual machining techniques, especially on Haas equipment.
- High school diploma or vocational certification in machine technology preferred.
- Strong knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, metallurgy, and material properties.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
