About the role

Responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining essential tools and fixtures to ensure efficient operation of production machinery and adherence to high-precision gear specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and repairing tools, jigs, and fixtures for gear cutting machines (hobbing, shaping, grinding).
  • Setting up and operating conventional and CNC machinery, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders.
  • Using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and bore gauges to meet tight tolerances.
  • Troubleshooting tool-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD models for machining planning.
  • Performing preventative and predictive maintenance on tools.
  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams to improve tools and processes.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a machine shop or tool room environment.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code) and manual machining techniques, especially on Haas equipment.
  • High school diploma or vocational certification in machine technology preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, metallurgy, and material properties.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
