Our Tool Room team consists of talented and dedicated Tool Makers and Tool Room Machinists who machine custom tooling, automated fixtures, gages, and more—with direct design input on these projects. We’re looking to add another skilled and experienced Tool Room Machinist 2 to this team. For over 100 years, we’ve manufactured high-quality products in our Oregon-based factory, producing innovative, battle-proven optics for hunters, shooters, law enforcement, and military personnel.

About the role

As a Tool Room Machinist 2 on swing shift, you’ll build, repair, assemble, and maintain parts and tools while supporting production and new product introduction. You’ll work closely with Tool & Die Makers, operate manual machines, and ensure precision in every task.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, repair, and assemble tooling, mechanisms, or machines.
  • Set up and operate manual machines (lathes, milling machines, grinders) to machine simple to moderately complex parts to specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to layout stock for machining.
  • Assist Tool & Die Maker with computing dimensions and planning layout and assembly operations.
  • Position and secure parts in holding devices; use hand-tools to fit and assemble parts.
  • Verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Provide assistance to Tool Grinders and Tool & Die Makers as needed.
  • Supply required work tools and measurement devices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Two years of trade school training in machining technologies plus two years of related tool room or manufacturing experience (or equivalent combination).
  • Experience with Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing and print reading.
  • CNC programming experience.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and chemicals; PPE required.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods; good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Capable of operating light tools and basic machinery.

Pay

$26.00 - $32.00/hour (DOE) + $2.00/hour shift differential.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM (swing shift).
