Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair on die cast dies, trim dies, fixtures, and auxiliary tooling.
  • Troubleshoot tooling-related production issues including flash, porosity, soldering, mismatch, and dimensional concerns.
  • Disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble dies and tooling components.
  • Repair tooling using welding, polishing, grinding, machining, spotting, and fitting techniques.
  • Cook up die changes and support die setup activities with production and maintenance teams.
  • Maintain accurate tooling maintenance records and documentation.
  • Aid with new tool tryouts, engineering changes, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Verify cooling lines, vents, slides, ejector systems, and hydraulic components are functioning properly.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to tooling failures or scrap.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to support production goals.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Experience in high pressure aluminum die casting tooling maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of die cast tooling, trim tooling, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, tooling drawings, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience with welding, CNC/manual machining, grinding, polishing, and fitting techniques preferred.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling systems associated with die cast tooling.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with hot work tool steels and aluminum die cast processes.
  • Familiarity with TPM and preventative maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Forklift and crane operation experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and reaching.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, and moving equipment.
