Tool Management Coordinator

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Tool Management Coordinator to join the Material Management Team in Columbus, MS. This role supports Production Operations by managing the Tool Room inventory of tools, consumables, and supplies to ensure compliance with company processes and regulatory requirements.

About the role

The Tool Management Coordinator ensures the availability and traceability of tools and supplies, executes supplier contracts, and manages onsite calibration of tooling. The position involves inventory management, tool audits, reporting, and continuous improvement to support operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Tool Room Inventory Management (35%):
  • Inventory and maintain system records of all active tools and consumables.
  • Perform daily cart inventory and replenish as required.
  • Create system purchase requisitions for new requirements.
  • Generate shipping documents and facilitate outbound shipments.
  • Perform manual and system Good Receipts for new deliveries.
  • Troubleshoot Tool Room and supply issues.
• Tool and Supply Control and Management (35%):
  • Conduct daily and weekly tool audits to ensure accountability and serviceability.
  • Track and monitor issuance and traceability of tools using logs and tool tags.
  • Ensure tools are stored per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Assist with internal audits.
  • Manage Electronic/Smart Toolboxes.
• Reporting, Records Administration, and Continuous Improvement (15%):
  • Assist with training for new hires.
  • Maintain and update system Tool Control records for historical and current status.
  • Scan and electronically store historical records; manage document storage systems.
  • Support problem-solving and decision-making for tool-related issues.
• Tool Calibration (15%):
  • Participate in monthly reviews of calibration due dates for Tool Room tools.
  • Perform daily in-house testing and record results for torque wrenches to ensure NIST compliance.
  • Receive and log tools for monthly calibrations.
  • Manage Tool Room environmental controls per ISO/IEC-17025.
  • Participate in quarterly calibration backup training.
• Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in tools, materials, or logistics management.
• Prior SAP or database experience preferred.
• Experience with Tool Room processes and procedures preferred.
• US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under existing ITAR license).

Physical Requirements

• Onsite: 100% on-site in Columbus, MS.
• Vision: Ability to read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
• Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations and hear safety warnings or alarms.
• Speaking: Ability to communicate in meetings and daily interactions.
• Equipment: Operate computers, telephones, fax machines, and warehouse material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, cherry picker).
• Carrying: Lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs daily.
• Pushing/Pulling: Push and pull carts and items up to 50 lbs daily.
• Sitting/Standing: Ability to sit for extended periods and stand during discussions or on the production floor.
• Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to retrieve or replace items from low shelving.
• Walking: Routine walking, including standing for most of the workday.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and gloves as required.

Located in Columbus, MS, this role supports the manufacturing and assembly of UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army and H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers. The site serves as the Center of Excellence for Airbus Helicopters in North America.
