About the role
Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing facility produces intricate components for trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA.
Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, coordinates, fabricates, assembles, repairs, alters, and builds parts, assemblies, tools, fixtures, gages, molds, and dies.
- May assist in production with start-up procedures and troubleshooting, guided by engineering or management.
- Uses all equipment, techniques, and tools as required by the assignment.
- Performs related tasks as necessary in the completion of the associate’s work assignment in the Tool Maker classification.
- Uses new technology as applicable to the basic job assignment.
- May be required to verify that completed work conforms to requirements or specifications.
- May cut new soft jaws and cut new steps in existing soft jaws.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
- Checks and top offs lubricants as necessary.
- May perform other duties as required.
- Responsible for complying with applicable provisions of Article 18. Health, Safety, and Environment of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- U.S. Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance.
- Possession of a Tool and Die Certificate, OR completion of a formal training program focusing on machining with at least two years of experience in CNC Machinery and related manufacturing equipment operation, programming, and setup.
- If you do not possess any certification: five years’ experience in similar capacities.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, schematics, and CAD files, with experience in MasterCAM or equivalent for CNC programming and setup.
- Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gaging equipment, indicators, height gages, and other tools required to perform the job).
Qualifications
- Eight years or more extensive experience in machining, CNC programming, assembly, and inspecting complex parts within a production setting.
- Extensive experience in fabricating a variety of prototype parts, fixtures, and gages to extremely close tolerances, using all available manufacturing techniques, equipment, and technologies.
- Exceptional teamwork skills, demonstrated by a history of working efficiently within cross-functional teams.
- Competence in Microsoft Office software and/or equivalent applications.
