Key Responsibilities
- Design, machine, assemble, and maintain fixtures, jigs, tooling, and custom production aids used in AmTab’s metal fabrication and welding processes.
- Operate manual mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, and other precision machining equipment to fabricate tooling components.
- Closely work with Engineers and Production Managers to develop tooling solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and product consistency.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to manufacture precision tooling components.
- Modify and repair existing tools, dies, and fixtures to support evolving production requirements.
- Assist in the development of welding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and production setup tools used throughout the factory floor.
- Perform layout, measurement, and inspection of machined components to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Maintain tooling inventory and recommend improvements or replacements when needed.
- Support troubleshooting of production equipment by designing or modifying tooling solutions.
- Assist with general production support as needed, including fabrication of custom brackets, machine guards, or safety improvements.
Requirements
- Journeyman Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in tool making, machining, or tool and die work in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience operating manual milling machines and engine lathes.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience designing and building fixtures and tooling for production environments preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
- Commitment to maintaining safe work practices and compliance with OSHA standards.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Lift and move materials and tooling up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally more with assistance or mechanical aids.
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods during the work shift.
- Operate manual machining equipment safely and responsibly.
- Work around industrial machinery, welding operations, metal fabrication equipment, and moderate noise levels.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and other equipment as required.
