Roles and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret tooling work orders; follow instructions accurately.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance based on cycle counts, run hours, and tooling condition.
- Inspect molds for wear, corrosion, and damage; proactively recommend repairs.
- Clean, inspect, and service mold components, including cavities, cores, slides, lifters, ejector systems, cooling circuits, and vents.
- Assemble molds to precise tolerances, ensuring proper alignment and functionality of all components.
- Verify proper operation of ejection systems, slides, and other moving components prior to returning molds to production.
- Respond promptly to production issues; diagnose and resolve tooling-related downtime.
- Support continuous improvement of PM programs to extend tool life.
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation for tool maintenance and repair tracking in the computer system.
- Apply knowledge of hot runner systems during maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Use precision measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges).
- Absorb and apply knowledge of prototype tool making and plastic injection processing (preferred, but not required).
Skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills (able to speak, read and write English fluently)
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics.
- Ability to visually inspect tools with high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to read and understand tooling work orders
- Ability to trouble shoot issues and repair.
- Ability to work closely with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Professional demeanor and ethical conduct, including handling confidential information appropriately.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 55 pounds.
