Tool Design Engineer - Level 2 or Level 3
About the role
... description paragraph including relocation assistance, travel, clearance, location, position level, overview of MEP.
Responsibilities
- Create, prototype, design, and analyze tools and fixtures for manufacturing and testing of composite parts and assemblies. Tools include layup molds, precision assembly fixtures, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and test fixtures
- Develop and refine components and subsystems utilizing design skills, hand calculations, CAD modeling software and analytical tools
- Perform detailed 3D designs and generate 2D engineering drawings
- Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews. Includes generation of presentation media for PDR, CDR, and MRR type reviews
- Support manufacturing and test of fixtures and hardware as required
- Aid in the generation of manufacturing and test plans
- Support procurement of hardware and tooling
- Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers
- Support continuous improvement of departmental tools and procedures
- Ensure designs meet manufacturing and test plans, while maintaining targets for cost and schedule
Requirements
We need to include basic qualifications for Level 2 and Level 3. Could present as two sub-bullets? But we must use- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. So we can list each requirement as a bullet. However the qualifications are lengthy sentences; we could break them into bullet points each representing a requirement. But we must preserve all substantive information; we can keep them as paragraphs inside
- maybe.
Simplify: Provide two paragraphs: one for Level 2 basic qualifications, one for Level 3 basic qualifications. But the instruction says use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. If we have a list of requirements, we should use
- . So we can create a list where each item is a requirement bullet. However the qualifications are grouped; we could list each bullet as a requirement statement (like "Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with two (2) years working in a structural design field") etc. That would be many bullets, but okay.
But we also have "Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance" appears in both levels. We'll include.
Let's extract Level 2 basic qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with two (2) years working in a structural design field
- Aerospace experience with product definition and design.
- Understanding of specifications, SOW's, drawings, ICD compliance
- Understanding of aerospace materials and assembly methods (bonding/fastening)
- Experience in CAD and PLM systems, such as Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience in drawing generation, with practical knowledge and use of GD&T
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFMA) principles and mistake-proofing techniques
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance
Level 3 basic qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with five (5) years working in a structural design field
We could combine duplicates but preserve all info; we could note that Level 3 requires 5 years vs 2 years. Could present as two separate lists with headings? But we only allowed certain headings; we could add a
before list indicating Level 2 and Level 3. However that might be considered filler? It's okay to have prose. We'll do:
Requirements
Level 2:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with two (2) years working in a structural design field
- Aerospace experience with product definition and design.
- Understanding of specifications, SOW's, drawings, ICD compliance
- Understanding of aerospace materials and assembly methods (bonding/fastening)

Level 3:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with five (5) years working in a structural design field
- Aerospace experience with product definition and design.

for prose, which is allowed. The instruction: Use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and
for prose. So using
for the level labels is okay. Now Preferred Qualifications section: we can use heading Qualifications (or Skills?). The instruction list includes Qualifications as a possible heading. We'll use
Qualifications
for preferred qualifications. List each preferred qualification as bullet. Preferred qualifications list: - Extensive experience with aerospace tooling, including composite layup molds, precision assembly fixtures, and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) - Ability to perform design of complex, multi-piece tool assemblies to ensure successful execution of manufacturing and test plans - Extensive experience with composite/metallic assemblies including bonded/fastened joints and associated materials, adhesives and fasteners - Demonstrated initiative and strong interpersonal skills, thriving both independently and collaboratively within a team environment - Experience with composite manufacturing processes and applications (layup, machining, bonding & assembly) - Active Government clearance We'll put those in- .
Now Benefits section: we have benefits paragraph. We'll put as
Benefits
and thenwith the benefits description. Benefits description: "Working at Northrop Grumman is more than just a paycheck. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards and benefits package designed to help you thrive at work and in life. For more information on our Total Rewards package, please visit our Total Rewards site. Northrop Grumman Total Rewards ... In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business." We can combine into a paragraph. Now Pay section: we have Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,
- .
