Tool Crib Attendant

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with team leads on tool kits needed for start of a shift.
  • Have tools checked out and to the point of use prior to shift start.
  • Coordinate with maintenance on servicing tools and returning tools back to service.
  • Perform basic daily maintenance on tools as they are returned.
  • Issue consumable tooling to mechanics such as drill bits.
  • Perform cleanliness sweeps of the area.
  • Manage the calibration of tools.
  • Ensure part protection is being used (replace protection on air lines, clamps, etc.).
  • Coordinate with purchasing on needed items for the mechanics.
  • Maintain a full inventory listing and monthly cycle count.
  • Issue paint & sealant to mechanics.
  • Bring ideas to help improve efficiency throughout the shop to continuous improvement department.
  • Perform additional material handling activities to mechanics engaged (as time allows):
    • Manage manufacturing system inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts and transaction tracking.
    • Review work orders daily to locate, stage, and deliver materials, components, and fixtures to work cells and Final Assembly per schedule.
    • Monitor inventory levels and communicate potential shortages to manufacturing and purchasing to prevent stockouts.
    • Unload, store, and organize incoming materials/raw goods, assisting with receiving paperwork.
    • Conduct daily forklift safety checks and maintain operational documentation.
    • Support Operations, Shipping, and Production Scheduling during high-flow situations or facility asset relocations.
    • Recommend equipment repairs or upgrades to maintain reliable operations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience using technical/mechanical aptitude required.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining production schedule, Earned Standard Hour objectives, quality, and production goals strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team environment required.
  • Demonstrated experience paying attention to detail and spatial awareness required.
  • Demonstrated experience with working extended hours, overtime, and weekends when necessary to support production and operations activities strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or able to demonstrate basic written, reading, verbal, and math skills required.

  • Basic computer skills (e.g., clocking in and out, Factory Trak, Syteline).
  • Clear and effective communication.
  • Accurately complete required paperwork (e.g., Work Orders, inspection records, certificates).
  • Foreign Object Debris identification and control.
  • Identifying and controlling nonconforming product.
  • Ultra C-Lean practices.
  • In-process inspection.
  • Production metrics tracking.
  • Problem solving.
  • Root Cause / Corrective Action.
  • AS9100 standards.
  • OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Regulation compliance.

Work Environment and Job Functions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Proper safety precautions, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), must be followed as dictated by the job and working environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to bend, twist, and stretch arms above head.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach in all directions, handle, and manipulate objects and materials.
  • Ability to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate machines and equipment.
  • Standard visual acuity (correctable by prescription glasses or contacts meets the requirement), including color recognition.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 10 lbs. to a maximum of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to hear with or without correction.
  • Ability to become proficient and certified, as required, with equipment used to maneuver and store large and/or heavy objects.
  • Able to stand for up to 4 hours at a time between breaks.
