Tool and Die Maker

About the role

Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures, the tool and die maker is responsible for performing his/her own set-ups and machine/grind all necessary components required to complete assignments given to support all manufacturing product lines.

Responsibilities

• Perform own set-ups and machine/grind all necessary components to complete assignments
• Maintain strong understanding of slip and press fit relationships
• Repair header tools and make complete header tool components
• Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance
• Operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones and fixtures
• Apply shop math as required
• Clean and maintain the work area

Skills

• Good machining skills
• Shop math proficiency
• Ability to read blueprints
• Proficiency using measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, comparators)

Requirements

• Minimum of 3–5 years experience as a tool maker for a manufacturing facility
