About the role

Working closely with our Manufacturing Engineering team, this position is responsible for building tools and fixtures for new products as well as maintaining and adapting current structures for existing products. This position requires a high level of creativity, teamwork, and strong communication skills. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Build jigs and fixtures for fabrication, weld, paint and assembly processes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, design schematics and CAD drawings.
• Identify and measure metal stock for machining.
• Set up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders and milling machines.
• Fit and assemble fixture, tool and die parts.
• Validate completed fixtures, tools and dies.
• Troubleshoot issues and/or repair existing jigs and fixtures.
• Provide training to production personnel on fixture operation as required.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to ensure quality and product flow.
• Involved in product development via the creation of prototypes and concept ideas as assigned.

Requirements

• 5-years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Familiarity with GibbsCAM and CNC operated equipment
• Hydraulic/pneumatic knowledge
• Self-motivated and works independently
• Excellent communication skills
• Team mentality with ability to collaborate
• Ability to accurately use measuring tools
• Understanding of material and other manual shop equipment used in fixture design
• Working knowledge of fabrication and welding processes
• Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds periodically

Qualifications

2 year degree preferred in a related field

Schedule

1st Shift – Monday-Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Pay

Base pay range between $24.50 – $32.50 per hour plus a potential quarterly bonus based on performance metrics. Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications, and work location.

This position is located onsite in Madison, South Dakota. No travel required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
