About the role

The Tool and Design Assistant will distribute departmental records and support companywide manufacturing processes, collaborating across departments related to aluminum aerospace open and closed die forgings. This role focuses on improving safety, quality, throughput, and cost efficiency while ensuring compliance with aerospace industry and APP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Document review of new and existing job documents (e.g., drawings/model comparisons) and route 3D CAD files for design and tool builds in compliance with APP document control procedures.
  • Maintain digital and hardcopy master files facilitated through APP’s NPI Group.
  • Work with Product Development Engineers and continuous improvement teams to generate data (OTD, costing, efficiency, effectiveness) for improvement projects.
  • Maintain and release ECR, ECN, and Operational Record Sheets per APP document control procedures.
  • Download models from customer FTP sites.
  • Create IFS purchase orders (tooling, supplies).
  • Route pending engineering changes (customer revision level inquiries).
  • Perform other essential duties as required by APP Leadership.

Requirements

  • Intermediate computer skills: proficiency with standard PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Internet) and ERP systems.
  • Strong English skills (reading, writing, verbal, comprehension).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
  • Positive and professional attitude with a drive for results.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Organizational, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel for business.
  • Basic knowledge of interpreting blueprints, customer specifications, and GD&T.
  • Ability to use various measuring equipment required for the job.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
  • Effective communication across departments and personnel.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to comply with ITAR/EAR regulations.

Pay

$20.00 - $23.97 per hour. The range reflects the lowest to highest rate we believe we would pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual pay may vary based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, and business needs.
