TONGA : HAVELU MIDDLE SCHOOL - COUNSELOR

Responsibilities

• Listen attentively to students’ concerns and provide support and counsel.
• Help students deal with personal, behavioral & social challenges.
• Identify students who need additional help in school and advocate for them.
• Develop clear spiritual, educational occupational plans (SSEOP) for students.
• Aid students in achieving their goals.

Qualifications

• Has a bachelor’s degree in social work or equivalent education and experience.
• An ITEP counselling certificate is advantageous.
• Demonstrated understanding of counselling concepts, skills, and techniques.
• Substantial years of counselling experience.
• At least five years of relevant teaching or related experience.
• Ability to connect with the youth.
• Participates effectively in the school leadership team and Professional Learning Community.
• Understands confidentiality and keeps administration informed appropriately.
• Familiarity with both English and Tongan (verbal and written).
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, including experience with student management software.
• Maintains temple worthiness standards.
