About the role
The Head Varsity Softball Coach will report to the Activities Director and oversee the entire softball program for grades 7-12. The coach must demonstrate and communicate a wealth of knowledge on both the technical and tactical aspects of softball, adapting them for implementation at all levels. Ensuring each player has a positive experience relative to their skills and work ethic is a top priority.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the entire softball program (grades 7-12).
- Oversee administrative duties, budgetary duties, student fund account management, and equipment/uniform management.
- Manage public relations for the program.
- Become an active member of the state coaches association.
- Plan, instruct, and manage multiple practices and games, including in the absence of administration.
- Model and promote outstanding ethics and appropriate behavior for players.
Requirements
- Holds a valid Wisconsin Teacher Certification or obtains National Federation of State High School Associations certifications in Fundamentals of Coaching and First Aid for Coaches before beginning the second year.
Qualifications
- Ability to lead, organize, and supervise an entire softball program.
- Preferred: Two years of documented reputable high school softball coaching experience or equivalent.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical and tactical aspects of softball.
- Preferred: Documentation of attendance at least one softball coaching clinic in the last 2 years.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with administration, coaching staff, student athletes, and the public.
- Provide at least two letters of recommendation.
- Strong leadership abilities to execute a vision and develop ethical behavior in players.
