Toddler Assistant Teacher

About the role

Winsted Area Child Care Center in Winsted, CT is seeking a qualified Toddler Assistant Teacher to work with Infant / Toddler (0–2) in a center-based environment. This position requires a willingness to earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, with employer support.

What You'll Do

• Implement daily curricula designed to meet the unique needs of each child, based on best practices and early learning standards in a play-based setting.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with children through empathetic and supportive interactions.
• Absorb and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment, meeting the basic needs of the children.
• Monitor and assess each child's growth, development, and performance, using data to inform instruction.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, keeping them informed about their child's progress and experiences.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve program goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and center policies, maintaining accurate records and files.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years of age.
• At least one year of professional child care experience is required.
• Able to work effectively with staff, children, and families.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
• Able to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of the children and program.
• Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as basic computer skills.
• Committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
• Must undergo a full background check and pass a health screening, as per OEC licensing regulations.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks common to an early childhood environment, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and crawling.

Nice to Have

• Early Childhood Education credits or coursework are highly desirable.
• Experience working in a NAEYC-accredited program is an asset.
• Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification is a valuable addition to your skill set.

Benefits

This Toddler Assistant Teacher role pays $17 to $18.50/Hr. The position is Full Time.
