Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily class functions for a group of children
• Adhere to all rules and regulations at La Mère Academy and local, state, or national regulatory agencies regarding health, safety, and care of children
• Assess each child’s developmental needs on an ongoing basis
• Implement approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedules
• Plan parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations with a member of the leadership team
• Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages creativity, exploration, and confidence
• Provide verbal recognition and clear, consistent behavioral expectations for children
• Perform maintenance and housekeeping duties for the classroom, common areas, and playgrounds
• Attend all required staff meetings, workshops, and school functions
• Maintain a professional personal appearance in accordance with the Employee Handbook
• Assist in other capacities as determined by the Director or designee

Requirements

• Love of small children
• Loving and nurturing demeanor
• Friendly, enthusiastic attitude with a strong work ethic and cooperative team spirit
• Highly professional and dependable
• High school diploma, GED, or higher (degree in early childhood or CDA preferred)
• CPR and First Aid certifications
• Must meet basic requirements of the local child care regulatory agency
• Previous teaching or assistant teaching experience in a licensed early childhood program preferred
• Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for child handling, safety, and emergency situations
• Willingness to attend training and staff meetings

Pay

$18 - $20 per hour, depending on experience (bi-weekly pay with direct deposit available).
