TN - Mechanical Engineer - Design Engineer, Inventor, 3D

Location: Memphis, TN (onsite only; no hybrid or remote options)

About the role

We are seeking a mid- to senior-level Mechanical Design Engineer to join our design team in Memphis, TN. This role is ideal for a degreed Mechanical Engineer with at least five years of three-dimensional mechanical design experience. You will work in a collaborative, small-team environment, interfacing with customers and cross-functional team leaders to support the design and development of new products, features, and enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical systems and enhance existing product lines in a fast-paced environment.
• Lead and manage engineering projects, including timelines, deliverables, and technical requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, field service, and external partners to resolve technical and regulatory challenges.
• Provide hands-on technical support to customers, contractors, and engineering stakeholders.
• Create and maintain clear and accurate engineering documentation, including design specifications and field support materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another applicable Engineering field; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
• Five or more years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proven proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred; experience with similar tools considered).
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including sheet metal, plastics, and basic electrical integration.
• Experience with thermal systems, heating technologies, or similar equipment is a plus.
• Familiarity with designing within space constraints or working with limited routing options for parts, mechanisms, and wiring.
• Comfortable working in a smaller organization where flexibility and wearing multiple hats across design and manufacturing functions is essential.
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
