Lincoln Land Community College’s new Learning Center is currently accepting applications for a technical services student worker. This position supports the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our library collections accurate, organized, and ready for users to access.
Responsibilities
- Check in periodicals in the library’s system.
- Process new materials to make them shelf-ready, and process withdrawn items, per established procedures.
- Shelve materials and self-read assigned sections in Library of Congress call number order, reporting items that are out of order, missing, or in need of repair.
- Assist with shifting, inventory, and other collections projects as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Uphold LLCC’s mission, as well as certain standards of conduct within the College and in dealings with students, staff, faculty, and the general public.
- Responsible for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other regulations regarding confidentiality of and access to student and other institutional records.
Requirements
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
- Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) during the semester of employment, with the exception of summer term.
- Complete LLCC’s mandatory harassment prevention training within 30 days of employment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; able to follow established procedures consistently.
- Only students eligible for Federal Work Study will be considered for this position.
Physical Requirements
- Able to push loaded book carts, bend and reach shelves at varying heights, and lift library materials.
If working with minors, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
Pay
Student workers will be paid minimum wage.
Schedule
Scheduled to work, on average, 8-12 hours per week.
