About the Role
This position is located at Cheyenne High School in North Las Vegas, supporting students and staff in an educational setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in the classroom with instructional activities and student supervision.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students under the direction of the teacher.
- Help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Assist with classroom management, including behavior monitoring and redirection.
- Support students with personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility assistance).
- Prepare instructional materials and set up equipment for classroom activities.
- Monitor and document student progress as directed by the teacher.
- Assist with clerical duties such as grading, record-keeping, and organizing classroom materials.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions).
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- Sixty (60) college credits from an accredited institution, OR
- Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment (minimum score of 461), OR
- Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff in a diverse educational environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and instructional support.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Must pass a criminal background check and provide fingerprint clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children, particularly in an educational or childcare setting.
- Experience supporting students with special needs or disabilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
