About the Role

This position is located at Cheyenne High School in North Las Vegas, supporting students and staff in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in the classroom with instructional activities and student supervision.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students under the direction of the teacher.
  • Help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Assist with classroom management, including behavior monitoring and redirection.
  • Support students with personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility assistance).
  • Prepare instructional materials and set up equipment for classroom activities.
  • Monitor and document student progress as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist with clerical duties such as grading, record-keeping, and organizing classroom materials.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions).
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Sixty (60) college credits from an accredited institution, OR
    • Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment (minimum score of 461), OR
    • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff in a diverse educational environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and instructional support.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and provide fingerprint clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, particularly in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Experience supporting students with special needs or disabilities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
