Title Examiner - US Based Remote - Texas

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Title Examiner with 5+ years of title examination experience focused on Residential Lot/Block properties. Texas experience is required, and multi-state expertise is valued. Our Title Group provides full-service title, settlement, underwriting, and vendor management services for residential and commercial real estate transactions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough searches of public records and complete examinations to assess a property’s title status, adhering to regulatory title standards and Underwriter’s policies and procedures.
• Review documents affecting title to property, such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, and trust agreements.
• Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, and surveys.
• Assemble Title Commitments for use in issuing Final Title Policies.
• Communicate effectively with Underwriters, Title Officers, Escrow Officers, and Escrow Processing Teams.
• Mentor junior examiners on various title issues.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years of Texas title examination experience.
• Strong understanding of the title examination process, related documentation, and their effect on title.
• Residential Lot/Block examination experience required; Acreage (metes and bounds) experience preferred.
• Proficient in Title Data (TIMS) title plant software, Deed Plotter software, and county government websites.
• Good research and investigation skills, with knowledge of legal terms and awareness of new legal developments affecting real property.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and strong customer service abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and follow procedures consistently.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Acrobat, with the ability to learn new software applications.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a high level of attention to detail.
