Tissue Technician I

About the Role

As a Tissue Technician I at Veracyte, your primary responsibility is to assist histology with specimen processing in the clinical laboratory. This includes receiving specimens, ensuring accurate entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), and preparing samples for testing and analysis. You will maintain flexibility regarding work schedule and section assignment.

Responsibilities

• Specimen reconciling, sample return, and ensuring quality throughout the pre-analytical processes; other duties as assigned.
• Multi-task efficiently, maintain flexibility, and work as a team player while processing samples according to multiple workflows and maintaining established turnaround times.
• Identify specimen processing problems that may adversely affect the reporting of test results and immediately notify the supervisor.
• Complete related administrative duties, including copying, filing, and data entry.
• Maintain supply inventory logs for materials and laboratory supplies.
• Take ownership and accountability for ensuring the highest quality of internal/external customer service.
• Participate in projects, research, and validation activities as assigned.
• Perform all duties according to guidelines outlined within the quality systems.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; a four-year degree in life sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a laboratory setting desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with peers.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, data entry, and use of laboratory information systems.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision and exercise good judgment.

Physical Requirements

• Exposure to general office and laboratory environment conditions.
• Handling and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous laboratory materials.
• Repetitive movement of fingers, hands, arms, and legs.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling and processing specimens.
• Sitting, walking, standing, bending, talking, and hearing.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment.

Pay

Pay range: $24—$27 USD per hour. The final salary offered will be dependent on several factors including years of experience, skillset, geographic location, industry, and education.

Schedule

Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00 AM–7:30 PM.
