MarketingFull-time

Program Overview

Giresun University's Tirebolu Faculty of Communication students represented the university in the "Intercultural Marketing Communication" international project, part of the Erasmus Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) hosted by Yaşar University. Under the guidance of Dr. Anıl Uğur Oğuzcan from the Public Relations and Promotion Department, students Yasemin Usta and Gaye Naz Aydurmuş participated in the program, gaining hands-on experience in international academic collaborations.

Program Details

Students first completed approximately two months of online training with academics from participating countries. From May 2-10, they attended an in-person program at Yaşar University in İzmir, where they collaborated with teams from different countries on digital and corporate communication strategies for the "Ohannes Burger" brand.

The project included universities from Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Georgia: Yaşar University, Giresun University, Breda University of Applied Sciences, Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, Porto Polytechnic Institute-ISCAP, and the University of Georgia. Students worked in international teams to develop projects in brand management and integrated marketing communication.

Project Focus

The program aimed to develop new communication campaigns for "Ohannes Burger," a local gourmet burger brand in Turkey. The goal was to highlight the brand's homemade production approach, product quality, and artisanal identity while repositioning it as a boutique, high-quality producer rather than a typical fast-food burger chain.

Cultural Activities

In addition to academic work, the program included cultural activities and tours of İzmir to introduce international students to Turkey's cultural values. Over nine days, students applied their theoretical knowledge in practice through collaboration with international teams.

Student Experiences

  • Yasemin Usta noted that working on a real brand problem within an international team was a valuable professional development experience and expressed pride in representing Giresun University.
  • Gaye Naz Aydurmuş highlighted the benefits of collaborating with students from different countries, emphasizing the contribution to both academic and personal growth, as well as the importance of gaining an international perspective on brand communication.

Program Impact

The program, which emphasized international academic and cultural interaction, contributed to students' professional development and helped them gain a global communication perspective.
