Tire Production Associate

About the role

The Thompson Tire & Service retread plant in Dubuque, Iowa, is seeking a Thompson Tire Production Associate to join our team. This position involves inspecting, buffing, repairing, building, and final inspecting retreaded commercial tires.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tires to assess if they can be retread
• Buff the casing to remove worn tread
• Remove embedded objects, rust, and repair the tire casing
• Repair the casing using rubber cement or a patch before applying new tread
• Build the tire by applying new tread
• Cure the tire to mold the retread application
• Final Inspection to ensure a safe and quality product
• Work alongside a small, tight-knit team side by side with industry experts
• Complete on-the-job training and become competent in all workstations of the retread process
• Achieve competency in all workstations of the retread process without prior experience, but with a desire to learn
• Support the retread process through various stages
• Assist other members of the team as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Requirements

• Physical demands: Automotive repair shop environment, physically demanding, regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, use of hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery
• Work ethic and attention to detail: Strong work ethic and attention to detail are critical in this role
• Environment: Clean and safe work environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: Competitive hourly wage ranging from 20-20
