About the role
The Tikvah School of Music & Dance at JCCSF is a unique bicultural children’s program taught in Russian by native-speaking instructors. Tikvah explores Jewish culture through music, dance, art, and Shabbat celebrations. The Tikvah Dance Teacher provides high-quality dance programming for children ages 2–17, assists in the annual dance recital, and maintains a clean and safe environment within the dance studios.
Responsibilities
- Teach children’s dance classes including tap, jazz, ballroom, and hip-hop.
- Create curriculums for all classes.
- Assist in the creation of new classes.
- Provide excellent customer service to families by communicating about their child’s experience.
Requirements
- At least two years’ experience working with school-age children.
- Knowledge of and ability to teach dance for elementary-age children (experience in any dance genre welcome).
- Fluent bilingual spoken language skills in English and Russian.
- Ability to demonstrate a variety of dance skills and movements.
Working Conditions
This is an on-site position in a community center environment, with regular interactions with children and their families.
Schedule
4–6 hours per week, primarily Saturday mornings.
