About the role
Siouxland Community Health Center has an open position for a Part-time Tigrinya Interpreter.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 9am to 2pm
Qualifications
- Fluency in verbal, reading and written bilingual communication skills - Tigrinya
- EMR experience a definite plus
- Advanced computer skills
- Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to diminish barriers on the patients' and SCHC's behalf
Responsibilities
- Provide translation services and support the non-English speaking patients and their families throughout their clinical visit
- Works directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff
- Assists patients in completing all necessary intake forms at initial visit, including but not limited to, demographic and medical history, and financial verification
- Assists social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process
Education
- High School or better
