Tier III O&M Network Engineer

Leidos’ Digital Modernization Sector is seeking a Tier III operations and maintenance (O&M) network engineer to support the customer’s WAN and LAN networks. The role involves incident resolution, routing and firewall changes, and serving as a subject-matter expert in WAN and LAN technologies. The engineer will support intra- and internet data communications systems and network segments.

Responsibilities

• Support operations and maintenance activities, administering networks including LAN and WAN technologies such as OSPF, BGP, VRFs, VLANs, VRRP, and MPLS.
• Monitor system and network performance.
• Configure and test hardware, networking software, and operating system software.
• Review user requests for network upgrades or additions, assessing impact on performance and providing technical guidance.
• Perform long-term O&M activities, including Tier 3 troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Prepare troubleshooting procedures to restore network performance.
• Provide fault management and support performance management functions.
• Respond to, isolate, and resolve network issues.
• Execute reporting functions and data input for network management.
• Coordinate with configuration management and implementation teams.
• Analyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, throughput) and recommend modifications to network components.
• Optimize network topologies and site configurations.
• Coordinate requirements with users and assess/document current network configurations and user needs.
• Maintain operating systems, communications software, database packages, compilers, assemblers, and utility programs.
• Apply IT skills in software, hardware, and standards to analyze, specify, develop, integrate, and acquire open systems for Information Management (IM) applications.
• Ensure systems comply with open systems architectures, reference models, and standards (e.g., IEEE Open Systems Environment reference model).
• May perform up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities as needed.
• Subject to after-hours call-ins for incident resolution.

Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly.
• 16 years of combined experience and education (e.g., Doctorate + 8 years, Master’s + 10 years, Bachelor’s + 12 years, Associate’s + 14 years, or HS diploma + 16 years).
• Must comply with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting boundary protection technologies (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Forcepoint).
• Experience with Juniper and Cisco routers and switches.
• Proficiency with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VPNs, VRFs, and MPLS.
• Working knowledge of boundary protection best practices.
• Understanding of routing, switching, IP subnetting, NAT, and security technologies.
• Ability to engineer and modify rulesets for new customer requirements.
• Ability to read, understand, and develop schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and documentation.
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow or similar ITSM products.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate-level knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

Pay

Pay Range: $116,350.00 - $210,325.00. The Leidos pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Factors considered include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
