Tier 2 System Engineer
About the role
The Night Shift Systems Administrator provides critical after-hours support for users across multiple geographic regions and time zones. Responsibilities include:
- Resolving technical incidents and service requests during non-business hours.
- Documenting troubleshooting activities and resolutions in the IT service management platform.
- Delivering exceptional customer support while maintaining operational continuity.
- Escalating unresolved issues to appropriate support teams for follow-up.
- Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
Responsibilities
Administer and support Windows-based IT infrastructure and services.
- Perform routine operations and maintenance activities, including system updates, security patching, hardware/software upgrades, and issue resolution.
- Maintain account configurations, service settings, and platform performance tuning.
- Conduct SCAP scans and assess systems against applicable STIGs.
- Remediate identified vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for unresolved findings.
- Install security patches, updates, and service packs to maintain cybersecurity compliance.
- Create and submit change requests following established processes.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, procedures, and support records.
- Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, and failover planning.
- Provide written and verbal project updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Document incidents, resolutions, and support activities within approved ticketing systems.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of overall IT experience.
- 2+ years of experience supporting and administering Windows-based IT systems.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Experience supporting virtualization platforms (Microsoft Hyper-V preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft administration tools such as: Windows Admin Center (WAC), Azure Arc, and Microsoft Azure management tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Security+ CE (Required)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance Required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

- Technical proficiency with Windows-based systems and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.

Shift options available:
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
- Night Shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
