Thrift Store Sales Associate

About the role

This position is essential to ensure that the sales floor is stocked, organized, and presentable to customers. Providing excellent customer service and accurate cashiering are key parts of this role. This position also helps ensure that inventory is properly stocked and rotated throughout the store.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist them throughout their shopping experience.
• Operate the cash register, credit card terminal, and related point-of-sale equipment accurately and courteously.
• Stock, rotate, and straighten merchandise on shelves, racks, and sales displays.
• Aid in maintaining a clean, organized, and attractive sales floor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to operate point-of-sale equipment and handle cash accurately.
• Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Strong work ethic, dependable, courteous, reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
• Professional and courteous demeanor with donors.
• Supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission.
• Able to reflect and model the high standards of our organization.

Qualifications

• Driving is not required for this position.
• A continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
• A physical ability to maneuver, to remain in a stationary position, to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead, to lift 25-50 pounds, to access and produce information from the POS, to operate telephone, to understand written information.
• Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Pay

$16 per hour

Schedule

40 hours per week Monday- Saturday overtime as needed.
