Thrift Store Clerk

Full-time position, 40 hours per week.

About the role

To maintain the thrift store at standard operating level and complete all daily duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all shelves and clothing racks are full and organized to promote sales.
• Assist management team to investigate and properly price items to be sold, as needed.
• Process all merchandise efficiently and properly following established standards.
• Daily duties include stocking racks, shelves, counter, or tables with merchandise to promote sales.
• Maintain a clean environment throughout the store, including shelves, counters, and tables.
• When needed, wrap and bag merchandise for customers.
• Provide good customer service by being polite, prompt, and courteous in line with the mission of The Salvation Army.
• Train on the entire processing system, including cash register operations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Retail and/or cash register experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills with ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
• Good communication skills, both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
• Strong independent judgment.
• Must pass all applicable background checks.
• Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical Requirements

• Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity.
• Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment.
• May need to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions

The work environment is a retail setting. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

$13.00 per hour.
