Thrift Store Cashier-Clerk-Sorter

Essential Functions

• Operate cash register.
• Keep accurate financial records reporting discrepancies to store manager.
• Receive and select merchandise to be displayed for sale from donated items.
• Pricing items within prescribed guidelines.
• Maintain merchandise displays in a neat and orderly appearance.
• Transfer stock to maintain fresh marketing appeal.
• Rotate stock as directed by the store manager.
• Answer questions and assist store customers.
• May keep record of sales and inventory.
• Aid in maintaining overall appearance, cleanliness and safe conditions in the store area.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school academic background preferred.
• Prior sales experience or working with people in services capacity preferred.
• N/A certifications/licenses.

Skills/Abilities

• Understand basic written materials, communicate effectively in English.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred but not required.
• Handle basic cash transactions.
• Supervise volunteers and community service workers (May).

Physical Requirements

• Speaking, hearing and vision ability.
• Excellent manual dexterity.
• Bending, squatting and walking.
• Ability to perform the duties of lifting, pulling and pushing merchandise up to 25 pounds.
• Sitting up to 2-3 hours per day.
• Standing up to 4-6 hours per day.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a typical retail setting.
