Thought Leader Liaison - West
About the role
This field-based role is responsible for developing and executing a strategic engagement model with external thought leaders in rare neuromuscular diseases to support Dyne’s commercial objectives. The Director, Thought Leader Liaison builds credible, compliant, and value-driven relationships with neuromuscular experts and advocates, translating insights into actionable commercial strategy. This senior external-facing role shapes disease-state understanding, treatment adoption, and long-term success of Dyne’s neuromuscular portfolio within the West TLL region. Candidates must reside within the assigned territory and within reasonable driving distance of a major commercial airport capable of supporting frequent regional and national travel.
Responsibilities
- Thought Leader Strategy & Engagement
- Develop and execute a comprehensive thought leader engagement strategy focused on rare neuromuscular diseases, aligned with Dyne’s commercial and portfolio priorities.
- Identify, profile, and prioritize national and regional neuromuscular thought leaders based on expertise, influence, and strategic relevance.
- Build and sustain long-term, trust-based relationships with clinicians and experts treating rare neuromuscular disorders through compliant, value-driven engagement.
- Serve as a credible commercial partner in discussions related to disease state education, evolving treatment paradigms, and unmet needs in neuromuscular disease.
- Insight Generation & Strategic Activation
- Capture, synthesize, and translate insights from neuromuscular thought leaders into actionable recommendations for brand, launch, and lifecycle strategy.
- Provide strategic input into positioning, messaging, and tactical planning that reflects the unique dynamics of rare disease diagnosis, treatment, and patient journeys.
- Monitor KOL insights related to current and future market dynamics and competitive intelligence through customer meetings, congresses, advisory boards, and analytics.
- Share insights with commercial leadership and cross-functional partners to inform decision-making and optimize execution.
- Congress, Advisory Board & Peer-to-Peer Engagement
- Lead commercial engagement strategy for key neuromuscular congresses, including pre-, during-, and post-meeting planning and follow-up.
- Design and execute advisory boards, speaker programs, and peer-to-peer educational initiatives focused on rare neuromuscular disease education.
- Identify and recruit appropriate KOLs for content development and other marketing projects, such as web content, training, handouts, and related materials.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and compliance across engagement forums.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance
- Collaborate and interface regularly across regions and with multiple departments, including Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Training, Legal, and Compliance, to ensure aligned and compliant execution.
- Manage vendor partnerships as needed, including medical education agencies, meeting services providers, and other external partners.
- Establish metrics to assess effectiveness, impact, and ROI of thought leader engagement activities.
- Ensure all interactions adhere to regulatory, legal, and company compliance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical commercial roles, with experience in rare disease or specialty markets strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience engaging neuromuscular or rare disease thought leaders in a commercial context.
- Strong understanding of the rare disease commercialization landscape, including diagnosis complexity, referral dynamics, and patient advocacy.
- Proven ability to translate complex scientific and clinical insights into clear, innovative, and actionable commercial strategies.
- Self-starter with the ability to deliver results in therapeutic areas with high unmet need.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with strong execution focus and executive presence, and the ability to influence without authority.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience operating in matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical, compliant engagement practices.
- Proven ability to manage a large geographical territory.
- Domestic travel up to 80% is required.
Pay
MA Pay Range: $230,000 – $260,000 USD
The pay range reflects the base pay range Dyne reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Individual compensation depends on factors such as education, experience, job-related knowledge, and demonstrated skills.
