About the role

The Thoracic Surgeon Faculty position at CHI Health Clinic is part of a vibrant program expanding clinical, research, and educational activities in conjunction with the Department of Surgery, Pulmonary Medicine, and the Lynch Cancer Center at Creighton University Medical Center.

Located in Omaha, Nebraska, this role is part of a growing multi-specialty system committed to the highest quality and outcomes. The department trains over 25 surgical residents and fellows, and the section of Pulmonary and Critical Medicine trains 15 fellows annually.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and academic excellence in a teaching environment, educating Creighton University’s surgical residents and medical students.
  • Conduct research in collaboration with scientists within CommonSpirit Health and the Creighton University School of Medicine.
  • Collaborate with the fore-gut/minimally invasive surgery and pulmonary medicine teams.
  • Develop and lead an integrated thoracic oncology program.
  • Work with interventional medical and surgical teams at the University Medical Center and Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Active or eligible license in the state of Nebraska.
  • Strong clinical skills with experience in programmatic development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care.
  • Clinical and leadership experience and ideally academic activities commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at Creighton University School of Medicine.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in robotic thoracic surgery skills.
  • Experience in managing thoracic diseases and minimally invasive surgery.
  • Desire to develop and lead an integrated thoracic oncology program.
