Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet, assist, and thank customers in a positive, approachable manner.
  • Answer questions and resolve customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Handle situations with the best interest of both the customer and Company in mind.
  • Build average basket transaction and store sales through suggestive selling, advising customers of promotional items and linking add-on items.
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked store for customers.
  • Maintain a positive image towards internal customers, external customers, and the community.
  • Accurately handle customer funds and process transactions using the POS system.
  • Assist in unloading all merchandise from delivery truck, organize merchandise, and transfer merchandise from stockroom to store.
  • Stock shelves and recover merchandise in the store.
  • Assist the Store Manager in asset protection prevention by maintaining a presence in the store and providing excellent customer service.
  • Assume certain responsibilities in absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, including opening and closing duties, providing operational assistance to cashiers, maintaining record keeping and cash register deposits/receipts.

Position Requirements

  • Availability: Ability to work flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical Requirements: May be required to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. (and occasionally, up to 55 lbs.) from floor level to above shoulder height and adequate fitness level to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Education and Experience

  • Prefer completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain to others operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics, etc).
  • Prefer management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments.
