About the role
In the Thermoform Tooling Supervisor role, you will plan, organize, support, and direct daily Tool Room operations while ensuring operational consistency, employee development, tooling reliability, and alignment across all shifts. You will play a key role in keeping production running smoothly by leading tooling activities, developing your team, and driving continuous improvement across the operation.
Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership:
- Lead and support daily Tool Room operations and tooling maintenance activities
- Cook repair priorities to support production needs and minimize downtime
- Support preventive maintenance programs for molds and tooling systems
- Review downtime and efficiency reports to identify improvement opportunities
- Cook activities with Maintenance, Scheduling, Molding, Printing, and other departments
- Communicate priorities, updates, and operational expectations across all shifts
- Team Development & Accountability:
- Support onboarding, training, and development of Tool Room employees
- Conduct employee evaluations and provide performance feedback
- Reinforce accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Enforce company policies, safety standards, SOPs, and good manufacturing practices
- Systems & Process Support:
- Maintain tooling maintenance records and documentation
- Support the development and improvement of Tool Room processes and procedures
- Aid with tooling-related organization, workflow, and operational systems
- Make recommendations for tooling and capital improvement needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with lathes, mills, grinders, or equivalent machining (preferred)
- Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers and gauges
- Mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting ability
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar drafting/modeling software (preferred)
- Good attendance and work history
- Ability to provide personal tools
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Fork truck experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or tooling environment
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop throughout the shift
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to work around grease, oils, inks, and solvents
