Thermal-Fluids Simulation Engineer

Alloy Enterprises Inc · Burlington, MA · Yesterday
On-siteEngineering$85k–$105k/yrFull-time

About the role

Alloy Enterprises enables customers to overcome cooling performance limits in high-power computing, semiconductor fabrication, cellular networks, photonics, power electronics, and other digital infrastructure with novel, complex metal components that dramatically improve heat dissipation. Alloy’s patented Stack Forging™ process produces single-piece, leak-tight parts with complex micro-geometries, delivering superior cooling performance, lower pressure drops, and exceptional reliability. Founded in 2020, Alloy is a 50-person hardtech startup that has raised over $40M in capital and is shipping components to customers manufacturing AI servers, lasers, semiconductor equipment, and defense systems. This role generally requires 4 days onsite per week.

Responsibilities

  • Do hand calculations, select appropriate correlation coefficients, and build simple scaling models
  • Perform coupled thermo-fluid simulations using CFD software to predict pressure drop and thermal performance
  • Provide guidance and input on customer development projects
  • Develop and improve best practices around simulation

Responsibilities are subject to change based on shifting business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant field
  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • Experience with Siemens SimCenter (required)
  • Experience in thermal-fluid simulation and analysis, including selecting turbulence closures, running mesh refinement studies, estimating model error, and extracting dimensionless correlation coefficients from simulations
  • Experience with a wide range of reference literature on calculating thermal and fluid behavior of components
  • Ability to deliver results in a quickly evolving environment, providing thermal performance estimates within a few days to accelerate customer-facing projects
  • Familiarity with design engineering work and an understanding of the engineering design process

Additional Requirements

This position requires access to information subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Any offer will be conditioned on authorization to receive controlled items without sponsorship for an export license.
