About the role
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The role involves contributing to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems.
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, review and deliver high quality thermal analysis products to inform the sizing and performance of module or vehicle level assemblies.
- Provide high level thermal insight to integrated trade and configuration studies.
- Contribute to thermal analysis reports deliverable to NASA.
- Review and approve the analysis of junior thermal engineers.
- Develop automation schemes to improve analysis cycle times and accuracy through the use of conventional and GenAI tool sets.
- PRACTICE rigorous model revision control using GITLAB.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant thermal analysis experience of space vehicles or similar products.
- Demonstrated command of heat transfer fundamentals in space environment.
- Strong understanding of spacecraft design fundamentals and cross-subsystem interactions.
- Familiarity with common spacecraft thermal hardware.
- Strong understanding of numerical methods and finite-difference/element solutions.
Desired
- Demonstrated experience in thermal model reduction.
- Demonstrated experience in vehicle or module level test correlation.
- Ability to identify the simplest analysis tool to address a given thermal problem.
- Experience solving a variety of thermal problems demonstrating breadth in application.
