About the Role
Organize and coordinate the daily schedule of the pool, transport patients to and from aquatic therapy sessions, perform routine upkeep of the pool area, and handle related departmental duties when not engaged in the aquatic therapy program.
Responsibilities
- Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Organize and coordinate the pool schedule in conjunction with classroom and therapy schedules.
- Transport patients to and from classrooms for therapy sessions.
- Record and maintain daily statistical logs for the pool and modalities.
- Assist patients in donning and doffing swimwear, including therapeutic dressing techniques and showering.
- Assist therapists during treatment in the pool under direct supervision.
- Perform maintenance and upkeep of the pool area, including:
- Disinfect pool toys daily.
- Rinse bathing suits after every use.
- Place towels in designated clean/dirty areas.
- Maintain a supply list and complete purchase requisitions to ensure par levels.
- Perform additional responsibilities in the physical, speech, and occupational therapy departments, such as:
- Assist therapists in treating patients in the therapy gym.
- Participate in scheduled in-service training and weekly meetings.
- Sanitize toys, treatment equipment, and modality equipment.
- Perform clerical duties for the therapy departments as needed.
- Comply with organizational policies on quality assurance, safety, infection control, confidentiality, customer service, attendance, punctuality, dress code, and professional conduct.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (required).
- Training and/or academic credit in biological sciences and child development.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in a clinical pediatric environment.
- Ability to take direction from registered physical, occupational, or speech therapists.
- Strong verbal communication skills for professional interactions with families and staff.
- Must meet or exceed general health standards for the position.
- Ability to lift, carry, transfer, and position patients on static and movable surfaces.
- Ability to stand and move in both land and aquatic environments.
- Ability to assist in patient evacuation if necessary.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 35 pounds.
Working Conditions
Therapeutic Aquatic Center Pool, Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy gymnasiums, and classrooms. Work may involve tables, floor mats, vestibular stimulation equipment, and static or movable surfaces.
Pay
Hourly rate range: $21.12/hr. to $22.74/hr.
