Therapist - Therapeutic Foster Care
About the role
Devereux's Foster Care Programs provide therapeutic, family-based care for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, emotional or behavioral challenges, or instability in their home environments. These programs partner with the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and local lead agencies to recruit, train, and support therapeutic foster parents who can meet the complex needs of youth requiring more than traditional foster care. Foster families receive ongoing specialized training, clinical consultation, and behavioral support tools so they can implement strategies that promote safety, stability, and positive behavioral change. Clinicians work closely with children, caregivers, and support systems to create individualized treatment plans, provide counseling, and build life and coping skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide therapy to children and adolescents in foster homes, schools, and community settings
- Assess clients and develop individualized treatment plans
- Consult with and train foster parents on therapeutic interventions and behavioral programs
- Provide on-call telephone support for the program's foster homes on a rotating basis
Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, or psychology field required
- 2+ years experience working with children or families in need of mental health, behavioral health, crisis intervention, or related required
- Valid FL State Issued Driver's license
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Successfully pass pre-employment medical screenings which include: Drug Screen and TB Test
- Successfully pass a Level 2 background screening with the State of Florida
Pay
Salary $51,000 - $62,700/annually (based on relevant education, Licensure, and experience)
Schedule
Full-Time; community based position-works around families schedules. Coverage Responsibility: Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties
