About the Role

Children's Outpatient Services provides treatment for children and adolescents and their families, aiming to improve and maintain stability in the community. Treatment focuses on problem resolution, symptom reduction, stabilization, and/or prevention of movement to a higher level of care. Services include individual, family, and group therapy, medication evaluation and management, case management, in-home intervention, case consultation, and summer day treatment services. The type of treatment is highly variable, depending on the individual’s existing symptoms and developmental level.

A School Based Therapist works in the Public School System to provide administrative, clinical, and mental health services for consumers. They deliver individual, group, family, and play therapy, as well as outreach services to consumers and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provides all administrative, clinical, and consultative mental health services within one or more school settings.
  • Conducts effective clinical assessments of consumers.
  • Utilizes assessment data to support a DSM IV-TR diagnosis.
  • Formulates appropriate treatment plans based on the CANS, in collaboration with the consumer and family/guardian.
  • Delivers individual, group, family, and play therapy using basic therapeutic models and theories according to consumer needs as stated in the treatment plan.
  • Provides outreach services to consumers and their families as needed.
  • Recognizes elements of a crisis state and de-escalates or resolves situations effectively.
  • Collaborates with treatment team members, school personnel, and outside sources in delivering clinical services.
  • Evaluates consumers for discharge planning and completes treatment plan reviews.
  • Provides clinical supervision as directed.
  • Adheres to a professional code of ethics and demonstrates child/adolescent-specific competencies.
  • Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed and applies suggestions for improvement.
  • Actively works to enhance clinical skills.
  • Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy, including mental health assessments, treatment goals, services, techniques, case disposition, closings, follow-ups, and referrals.
  • Manages caseload based on consumer needs and meets productivity standards (at least an average of 110 hours of billable services monthly).
  • Treats consumers with care, dignity, and compassion while respecting privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assists consumers and visitors as needed and maintains a pleasant and cooperative demeanor with others.
  • Is sensitive to consumer needs, expectations, and individual differences.
  • Adopts a teamwork approach with coworkers and actively participates in performance improvement activities and committees as required.
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner and accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs.
  • Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current license and requirements for renewals (e.g., CEUs) and attends regular workshops and in-services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a mental health discipline.
