About the role
The Red Rocks Therapist provides mental health assessment and short-term counseling interventions for students at the Red Rocks Community College Lakewood and Arvada campuses through the Student Health Center on campus. This provider also serves a vital role in linking students to ongoing mental health and supportive services at Jefferson Center and/or the community as indicated. This clinician is a vital member of the Red Rocks Community College campus, liaising with campus staff and faculty to promote access to mental health services and support for all students.
Responsibilities
- Provide short-term counseling services, up to eight (8) sessions per semester, and crisis intervention to a diverse student population at Red Rocks Community College.
- Facilitate referrals for acute and non-acute students to community resources and link students to ongoing mental health and related services at Jefferson Center and/or in the community.
- Stay knowledgeable and up to date regarding community resources.
- Complete individual assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on a brief therapy model, including the client/student in this process.
- Work constructively with clients/students to reach agreed-upon outcomes and actively coordinate care with internal and external providers.
- Maintain appropriate ethical, legal, and professional standards.
- Effectively respond to client/student needs and problems, initiate and maintain positive interactions with students, staff, and faculty, and respond to written communication in a timely manner (typically within 48 business hours).
- Identify risk factors including lethality.
- Maintain relevant documentation for treatment services provided.
- Maintain posted schedule and number of service hours (up to 40 hours per week for full-time and up to 20 hours per week for part-time).
- Provide general summary data on number of visits, number of unique visitors, treatment trends, and number of referrals to community resources to the Director of the Student Health Clinic monthly. Due on the 5th of each subsequent month.
- Collaborate with Red Rocks Community College staff, including the Student Health Clinic, to provide awareness to students of the services offered.
- Consult with Student Health Clinic Director on an as-needed basis to develop holistic health programs.
- Consult and participate with the Red Rocks Community College Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) to assess student mental health issues on an as-needed basis.
- Assist, when necessary, in facilitating crisis assessment for Red Rocks Community College employees provided by the Crisis and Recovery Center, 4643 Wadsworth Blvd, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
- Follow Trauma Informed Care guidelines.
- Work closely with other Jefferson Center departments to triage clients to appropriate level of services as need indicates.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate agencies or organizations and stay knowledgeable and up-to-date regarding community resources.
- Collaborate with Red Rocks Community College staff and serve as a subject matter expert on college committees as appropriate.
- Conduct on-site initial emergency assessments as appropriate and triage with Crisis and Recovery Center as needed for disposition planning.
- Comply with requirements of regulatory agencies and follow laws and statutes including HIPAA, CFR 42 Part 2, and FERPA confidentiality laws.
- Consult/oversight of Behavioral Health internships to increase the capacity of students served and provide additional training/classes for students as needed.
Requirements
- Licensure as LPC, LCSW, or LAC in the state of Colorado.
- Ability to be on campus 4 to 5 days per week, at either Lakewood or Arvada campuses as need changes:
- Lakewood: 13300 W. 6th Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80228
- Arvada: 10280 W 55th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80002
- Experience in assessment (intake) and short-term brief therapy approaches.
Qualifications
- One-year post-licensure experience in the field.
- Experience and skill utilizing Cognitive Behavioral and other evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Computer and technology proficiency utilizing Office applications including Outlook, data collection and entry utilizing tools such as Power BI, and experience with an electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Experience with higher education systems and tools including Banner.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
Schedule
- Up to 40 hours per week for full-time and up to 20 hours per week for part-time.
- Jefferson Center staff may be offered the option to assume a hybrid schedule, pending availability and policies/procedures of the Student Affairs department, and at the discretion of the Director of the Clinic based on the departmental schedule and student needs.
Pay
Salary Grade 52 - (Licensed Clinician LCSW, LMFT, LPC) $70,000 – $77,200*
The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE. Jefferson Center pay is determined by various factors including education level, licensure level, years of relative experience, and internal equity amongst current staff.
